Focused on overcoming resistance in the most aggressive and difficult-to-treat tumors

Redefining What’s Possible in Cancer Treatment

Our Mission

A Mission Driven by Urgency

Tactical Therapeutics is dedicated to developing breakthrough therapies for patients facing the most aggressive and treatment-resistant cancers. Our mission is to overcome the biological barriers that limit current therapies and deliver meaningful, lasting outcomes where few options exist.

We are driven by a singular focus: advancing science that translates into real hope for patients and their families.

A Clinical-Stage Biopharmaceutical Company

Tactical Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotechnology company advancing a novel therapeutic platform designed to target glioblastoma (GBM) and other resistant solid tumors.

Our work centers on Carboxyamidotriazole Orotate (CTO), a best-in-class oral therapy engineered to penetrate the brain and disrupt calcium signaling pathways that drive tumor growth and resistance.

By addressing multiple oncogenic mechanisms simultaneously, we aim to shift the treatment paradigm for cancers that have historically been among the most difficult to treat.

Since 2005

Dr. Karmali founded Tactical Therapeutics, Inc. and became the company’s Chief Executive Officer & President in September 2005. During her professional career of over 40 years, she has been a Cancer Scientist, a Faculty Member, Founder and Executive of a second Biopharmaceutical Company (Savvipharm Inc.) and a Law Firm (Rashida A. Karmali, Esq.), and gained experience in drug discovery, development and research, Food & Drug Law, Business & Intellectual Property Law, and Business Administration

At Tactical Therapeutics, she is inventor of 8 US patents and over 75 international patents.

Prior to founding her companies, Dr. Karmali worked at leading law firms in New York (Hopgood & Calimafde, Pennie & Edmonds, Bryan Cave and Stroock, Stroock & Lavan), and specialized in practice areas of Intellectual Property including Prosecution, Transactions and Litigation involving drug patent infringement cases. Dr. Karmali worked on precedent setting cases including Glaxo v. Novopharm and Eli Lilly v. Barr Labs.

During 1984 to 1990, Dr. Karmali was an Associate Professor of Nutrition at Cook College, Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, supervised Ph. D and MS candidates and held an Adjunct Associate member position at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (as Principal Investigator of a Phase I Breast Cancer Prevention Trial).

From 1980 to 1984, Dr. Karmali worked with Dr. Robert A. Good, President, at Memorial Sloan-Kettering in Department of Cellular Engineering, Immunology & Cancer Therapy, in New York. Her research program focused on the role of eicosanoids and polyunsaturated fatty acids in cancer and in autoimmune diseases. Dr. Karmali has authored over 100 scientific publications

Dr. Karmali’s work on Omega-3 Fatty acids and cyclo-oxygenase -2 (COX-2) in cancer was featured on the Cover of Cancer Research in the December 1997 issue. She received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who in 2017.

Dr. Karmali earned her M.B.A (2007) and J.D (1993) at Rutgers University, Newark NJ. She is a Registered Patent Agent and a Certified Licensing Professional. She is a member of AACR, ACS, ASCO, AIPLA, ABA and LES.

Dr. Karmali earned her Ph. D in Biochemistry at University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK, the M.Sc. in Nutrition at Aberdeen University, UK and BSc in Chemistry & Biochemistry at Makerere University, Uganda.

Our Approach

Targeting the Root of Resistance

Traditional cancer therapies often fail due to the complex and adaptive nature of tumor biology. Tactical Therapeutics is taking a different approach by targeting non-voltage-dependent calcium (ca)²⁺ signaling, a critical driver of multiple cancer, genomic, epigenetic, and immunologic,  pathways.

Advancing Hope Where It’s Needed Most

For patients diagnosed with aggressive cancers like glioblastoma, treatment options are limited and outcomes remain poor. Tactical Therapeutics exists to challenge that status quo.

By combining scientific innovation with clinical focus, we are working to deliver therapies that not only extend survival but improve quality of life.

This strategy enables us to:

Impact several oncogenic processes at once

Overcome resistance mechanisms that limit standard treatments

Deliver therapy directly to the brain through effective blood-brain barrier penetration

One-Year Survival Rate
93%
Two-Year Survival Rate
69%
Overall Response Rate
33%

The Future of Cancer Treatment Starts Here

Tactical Therapeutics is building a future where even the most resistant cancers can be treated effectively. Through innovation, precision, and relentless focus, we are advancing therapies designed to make a lasting impact.
